Sounds Getting across the real sound of a set of pipes through a recording is quite difficult. But I've tried my best to record my pipes in a way that gives a true sense of their sound. The first two recordings were played by myself, using the most simple drone configuration (tenor and bass tuned to A). The second set of recordings were made by Timothy Cummings of Beithe Publishing on his set (pictured below). These recordings showcase some of the posibilities of a well set up A/D set of Smallpipes. Each of the four drones can play at least two different notes, offering a large pallette of drone landscape possibilities. And to expand the posibilites even further, some of the tunings require "creative measures." For example, to get his tenor to play a B, Tim put his alto top on his tenor bottom section.
